Havening Demo Removing a Severe Fear of Flying in just 7 minutes!

Client: I am.
Stephen: You’re okay with me using Havening Touch with you?
Client: Absolutely, absolutely.
Stephen: You’re okay with psychological distractions, such as walking on the beach or through a park?
Stephen: Forests is it, you like forests?
Client: I like forests.
Stephen: [Are you] okay with the beach?
Client: I love the beach; yeah in fact I live by the beach so yeah.
Stephen: Okay. What about Happy Birthday, Jingle Bells those types of songs, are you okay with Happy Birthday?
Client: Yeah, yeah, yeah [Chuckles].
Stephen: The reason why I’m asking this is just to show you sometimes people can have a trauma in their past related to a song. Like sometimes if you hear a Christmas song for example some people [say] ‘oh I hate Christmas’, and then you check and there’s something there, they have issues, family stuff can happen around Christmas, trauma.
Client: It’s actually my birthday on Monday so I can sing it to myself.
Stephen: Okay Happy Birthday.
Client: Thank you [Chuckles].
Havening demo begins
Stephen: So I’m just going to sit in front of you, and I’d like you now to close your eyes, and I’d like you to think about those stories you were told that have caused this fear of flying.
Remember what you heard, and what you visualise when you’re told those stories, and go back to the most distressful memory.
See what you saw, remember what you heard, and the meaning of that for you, what you think that means, and what the fear is really about.
On a scale of 0 to 10 how high do you go?
Client: 9, 9.5.
Stephen: You can feel 9 now, 9.5?
Client: Yep, yep.
Stephen: Open up your eyes. Clear your mind and close your eyes
And begin imagining walking into a beautiful forest, or a forest you’ve been in before Audrey.
See the beautiful green trees, maybe the blue sky, the sunlight shining, even the smell of the forest.
As you walk through the forest imagine you’re taking 20 steps, and with every step you take count out loud from one to 20.
Client: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8–
Stephen: Relaxing with every step.
Client: 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14–
Stephen: Imagine the sounds in the forest.
Client: 15, 16, 17, 18–
Stephen: Very good.
Client: 19, 20.
Stephen: Now sing Happy Birthday with me [Singing] ‘Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Audrey, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Audrey, Happy Birthday to you’.
Take in a slow gentle breath, relaxing as you breathe out, that’s right, and on a scale of 10 to 0 where do you feel right now, the first number that comes to mind?
Stephen: Down at a 3, excellent.
Then we’re going to do some face havening and I’d like you to count backwards from 30 to 0 in twos Audrey when you’re ready.
Client: 30, 28, 26, 24–
Stephen: Relaxing with every number.
Client: 22, 20, 18, 16, 14, 12, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 4–
Stephen: Good, that’s fine, very good.
Now let’s sing a Christmas song [Singing] ‘Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, all what fun it is to ride on a one-horse open sleigh. Oh jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to ride on a one-horse open sleigh’.
Good, I’m going to show you something else now, open up your eyes move your eyes over to the right, to the left.
The lateral eye movements produce more delta waves in the brain.
That’s it, just allow your eyes to relax and just close your eyes, taking in a slow gentle breath.
And on a scale of 10 to 0 where do you feel now, what number comes to mind?
Stephen: 1, excellent.
Now I’d like you to imagine walking along a beautiful tranquil beach on a bright summer’s day.
Remember a time where you’re on a beautiful holiday.
Picture blue sea, the yellow sand.
Even imagine and remember the sound of the lapping waves and it’s lovely and warm.
With every step you take on the soft sand count out loud from one to twenty with every step.
Client: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20.
Stephen: Very good, now I’d like you to sing Old MacDonald’s farm just for the fun of it.
[Singing] ‘Old MacDonald had a farm E-I-E-I-O, and on that farm he had some dogs E-I-E-I-O, with a woof woof here and a woof woof there, here, there, everywhere a woof woof, Old MacDonald had a farm E-I-E-I-O, Old MacDonald had a farm E-I-E-I-O’.
Taking a slow gentle breath, very good, just enjoying the gentle lightness and letting go.
On a scale of 10 to 0 what comes to mind now?
Stephen: Okay. So we have a 0 which is very good.
And in a moment Audrey I’m gently going to count just from 1 to 5.
And at number 5 I’d like you to open up your eyes, feeling more calm relaxed and at ease, and then we’ll have a chat.
As I start now from 1, raising all the way up to 2, gently drifting up to 3, 4, and 5.
Client: Very good, yeah.
Stephen: So how do you feel?
Client: Just extremely relaxed and very calm, very at one as such.
Stephen: So you’re very calm, very at one, like together?
Client: Together, yep.
Client: All in one piece as such.
And just in my body and not just in my head, completely in my body, just whole.
Stephen: Okay, good. Are you feeling lighter, heavier?
Client: Lighter, but I’m kind of anchored but lighter.
Stephen: Right, and that’s the kind of feeling in your body then?
Client: Yeah, grounded but lighter as well, so not too heavy not too light.
Havening demo debrief
Stephen: Okay. Now we’re going to do a de brief and we’re just going to check the work that we just did.
So when you’re ready I’d like you to close your eyes please, I’d like you just to drift back to that original memory that was a 9 on the scale and let’s see what the difference is, and how you picture it, but most importantly in how you feel.
What’s happening or what’s the difference?
Client: I’m kind of finding it hard to get back to the memory, it’s like something’s not connecting.
I can’t feel the fear that I was feeling that would normally just be there the minute I think about a plane or going anywhere, that would just be there, and I can’t get that–I can’t seem to go back.
I can go to the memory but there’s nothing emotionally attached with it at the moment anyway so far.
Stephen: Okay, excellent.
Okay, and when you think of that memory has the sub modalities changed?
(which means the pictures and the sounds of the memory that makes up the memory)
Just close your eyes when you’re ready please Audrey if it’s okay with you? and tell me is there any change in actually the picture of the memory or what you heard, is there any changes there?
Client: It’s not coming through as clearly because it was only a story that [was] told to me, it’s kind of vague.
Stephen: Okay, good.
Stephen: And just one more time when you’re ready close your eyes, do your best to try and bring back the distress on that memory.
What’s the difference?
Client: It’s like I can’t make the connection with the memory.
Stephen: So, on a scale of 10 to 0 where are you?
Client: I’m still at 0.
Stephen: You’re still at 0?
Stephen: Well done, please give her a round of applause.
